I’m back! Well, kind of.

March 4, 2015

Whew, it’s been a while since I’ve uploaded a blog post, hasn’t it? The last entry I wrote was way back at the end of December, and I pretty much explained that I expected to be absent from the blog for a while due to the fact that it was the holidays, my dad was in town, and I was going to have a baby. Well, it’s happened: he’s here! This picture was taken yesterday morning when he turned eight weeks old. That’s right – it’s been eight weeks since I pushed this little man out of my body and into the world. Time flies when you’re waking up every few hours in the middle of the night to feed a crying newborn! (I’m not complaining, though, since pretty much everyone I know who has kids says Calvin is one of the easiest babies they’ve ever met.) Anyway, for those of you who aren’t privy to my social media networks, […]

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 26, 2014

It’s Thanksgiving week! Technically Thanksgiving is tomorrow, but since I already do posts on Wednesday, I figured you guys could have this one a day early. I also don’t want to write two other posts this week. So! That being said, I’ll see you guys on Monday! Meanwhile, here’s a picture of Scout! Spend a great holiday weekend with your friends and family! Cheers, –MC

Happy birthday fluff-post! 5 facts about my relationship.

November 19, 2014

So, to be totally honest, you guys almost didn’t get a blog post today. I’ve been watching my business partner’s kids and house for the last few days, which basically means I haven’t been home much at all (it’s hard to “run home” in the middle of the day when I have to drop one kid off at 9:30 AM and pick the other UP at 2:15 PM and my house is a solid half-hour drive away). Being away from the house basically meant that my routine was totally thrown off and that I took that advantage in laziness and didn’t write today’s blog post last night like I usually do. So, long story short, by the time noon rolled around today I still didn’t have an article written. Oops. I was going to go off of that whole “today’s a holiday” thing because, at least in my world, it is–my husband’s birthday! Last year I wrote a blog about […]

NOT a Monday Muse: Busy weekend and baby shower!

November 3, 2014

Hey guys! You may have noticed the distinct lack of blog post on Friday. That’s because it was Halloween (and Nevada day!) and I didn’t feel like writing one. I told you I’d be lazy about posting on and around the holidays, right? Well, there you go. And today, I’m not going to write another Monday Muse, mostly because my weekend was totally taken up by other activities and I didn’t have time (and didn’t feel like) hunting down a prompt to write about. And by “other activities,” I mean my baby shower! My awesome mother-in-law and I spent the vast majority of last week preparing for the baby shower on Saturday. Between that, having some family in town from Canada, and the Annual Harry Potter Party (this year I dressed myself and the baby-bump up as the golden snitch and my husband went as Victor Krum), it’s a miracle I kept up with the other blogs I had to […]

Reading for nostalgia’s sake.

October 1, 2014

To be honest, I’ll probably continue to reread the Harry Potter series until the day I die. It’s like that tear-jerking fan quote, which people have wrongfully attributed to Alan Rickman (because it makes it more “meaningful,” even if it’s a lie): “When I’m 80 years old and sitting in my rocking chair, I’ll be reading Harry Potter. And my family will say to me, ‘After all this time?’ And I will say, ‘Always’.” It doesn’t matter that Harry Potter isn’t the most well-written series (don’t throw stones at me! It’s a children’s book turned young adult! It was meant for younger audiences and therefore has a more simplistic writing style!). I was eleven when I read the first book, and for almost every year after that, until I turned seventeen, I grew up with Harry and got to go through the books at the same age as the characters. The story has a great message, and it’s something that […]
